Here are some key things to be aware of about the rules.
As per Chapter 3 of the rules, paddlers must compete using a hard board up to 14ft (these may be available to hire for the event)
As per 1.4 of the rules, age categories are determined by the age you are in the 2026 calendar year so:

Sprint Racing
Activity Details
We have designed a dynamic sprint course that celebrates the local beach conditions promoting thrilling, high-intensity races. The sprints showcase explosive speed, skill and precision over a short, fast-paced course. Set against the stunning backdrop of Torquay, paddlers will battle head-to-head in knockout heats, racing to the finish line in dramatic, crowd-pleasing sprints. This is where technique meets power, every stroke counts and the margin for error is razor thin. Whether you’re racing or watching from the prom walls, the energy is electric and the atmosphere unforgettable. The Sprint race will cover between 100/150 metres (due to changes in tide height) and is a deep water start from pontoons to a finish on the dry sand.
